  • Scientific Name: Echinopsis pachanoi (formerly Trichocereus pachanoi)
  • Geographic Origin: High valleys of the Andes, Peru and Ecuador
  • Notable Active Components: Mescaline, tyramine, hordenine, anhalamine
  • Quality: Each cutting is inspected to ensure its integrity and health

📘 Growing Guide: How to Plant and Care for Your San Pedro

Step 1: Rooting (The Crucial Phase)

  1. Upon receipt: Leave your cutting in a dry, shaded place for approximately 2 to 4 weeks until the cut scar is very dry and calloused. ⚠️ Do not water during this phase.
  2. Planting: Fill a pot with drainage holes with a special cactus mix (rich in perlite, pumice or coarse sand).
  3. Place Gently place the cutting in the substrate, pushing it down about 2-3 cm so that it stands upright.

Step 2: Watering and Maintenance

  • Spring/Summer: Water abundantly but rarely. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between two waterings.
  • Fall/Winter: Drastically reduce watering once every 2 to 3 weeks.
  • 💡 Tip: Prefer one bottom watering to encourage the roots to sink in.

Step 3: Location and Conditions

  • Light: After the rooting phase, the San Pedro loves full sun.
  • Temperature: It tolerates heat well but is sensitive to frost. Protect it below -2°C.
