CBD (Cannabidiol) forms with THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) the two main components of Cannabis. They are called cannabinoids. The first in particular is prized in the medical field because of its many therapeutic virtues. It also exhibits other unsuspected powers for health and well-being. We invite you to discover through this article the effects of CBD .
CBD in a nutshell
Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychotropic . In other words, it does not cause hallucinogenic effects once in contact with the body. According to the results of numerous studies, CBD comes mainly from a long demonized plant: hemp, also called Cannabis sativa or indica, CBD comes in greater quantity from the sativa variety whose THC levels are close to 0.
What are the effects of CBD?
Cannabidiol is very popular in the medical-pharmaceutical field because of its multiple properties. Professionals use it for example in the treatment of various pathologies. CBD is also known to soothe pain and symptoms associated with certain illnesses.
A powerful anti-inflammatory
Like most cannabinoids, CBD has formidable anti-inflammatory powers. This is why it is extremely popular with athletes in order to relieve muscle pain resulting from their physical activities.
Doctors are also advocating CBD medications for patients who suffer from chronic inflammatory pain . Scientific studies demonstrate its effectiveness in targeting pain and providing instant relief. Cannabidiol is also used as a prevention against certain pains.
By effectively fighting inflammation, CBD is involved in the treatment of joint swelling and pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis . The results of numerous scientific analyzes show that Cannabidiol tends to slow down the development of this disease by limiting joint destruction.
A fearsome natural painkiller
In a 2019 study, researchers found that the effectiveness of CBD is equivalent to that of a conventional painkiller. Cannabidiol would thus help relieve pain in the short term. Still according to this same analysis, it would also be endowed with formidable analgesic and anxiolytic powers. This is why medical professionals use it for the treatment of various diseases.
The effects of CBD as an immunomodulator
In addition to preventing and reducing pain, Cannabidiol also has positive impacts on the body's endocannabinoid system. It therefore limits inflammation and at the same time helps to strengthen the immune system. Due to its soothing properties, CBD helps us prevent oxidative stress .
Indeed, the immune system has multiple sensors specially dedicated to cannabinoids. This system is weakened by various factors. Among them, we can cite inflammation or autoimmune pathologies. The consumption of CBD helps restore this balance . As a result, immune cells are better able to fight off external threats.
CBD to fight stress and depression
As mentioned above, Cannabidiol is recognized for its anxiolytic effects. In other words, it accompanies the body in the fight against stress and depression. CBD boosts relaxation and allows the human body to release pressure. This is why doctors use it to treat patients suffering from anxiety attacks or chronic stress.
Researchers also see a silver lining in the treatment of various psychological illnesses through the effects of CBD. Among them are obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder or post-traumatic stress disorder.
The effects of CBD against neurological disorders
CBD has the advantage of not being habit -forming. In other words, even if consumed in large quantities, Cannabidiol is not addictive. Reason why it is used in the treatment of neurological disorders. Indeed, scientists have found that the molecule helps alleviate the symptoms of dystonia and epilepsy.
The research undertaken has also proven the effectiveness of CBD in relieving certain crises. Indeed, it acts as a natural sedative. Cannabidiol would thus reduce agitation, especially in people suffering from Parkinson's disease .
Doctors also prescribe treatments based on this cannabinoid to patients with schizophrenia . The same goes for subjects who require a natural antipsychotic in their therapy. The treatments already carried out report mild or even non-existent side effects.
Prevent degeneration with Cannabidiol
CBD is also known to act directly on the brain system, considerably limiting the risks of developing a degenerative disease . Cannabidiol contributes to relieve the symptoms and to limit the speed of evolution of this type of disease. By targeting the tissues of the brain, the cannabinoid reinforces the vascularization of this part of the human body.
The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory attributes of Cannabidiol explain its interest in the treatment of ALS ( Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ). Scientific studies show that CBD protects against brain damage and helps reduce blood flow. Therefore, it protects the brain and reduces the risk of contracting several neurodegenerative diseases.
The effects of CBD on the skin
CBD is also known for its ability to control sebaceous gland activity. Indeed, by reducing lipid synthesis, it helps prevent and treat acne problems . Several scientific studies have also confirmed the effectiveness of Cannabidiol in the treatment of psoriasis, eczema, redness and other skin conditions.
The other benefits of Cannabidiol
Finally, CBD is also used to counteract the side effects of certain medications and medical therapies. This is particularly the case with nausea and vomiting. That's why doctors use it for the treatment of patients undergoing chemotherapy .
Cannabidiol would also be ideal for people suffering from lack of appetite, as it tends to increase the feeling of hunger. In addition, doctors often recommend CBD-based medications for people with sleep disorders . Its relaxing properties allow you to enjoy better quality sleep in case of insomnia .
Finally, the researchers found conclusive results against breast cancers . These studies have shown that Cannabidiol deactivates the gene responsible for the development of cancer cells. Even if the first assessments are encouraging, additional research must be done to confirm its effectiveness in the treatment of cancer.
CBD for Dogs?
CBD is known to reduce pain, anxiety, depression and generally helps to improve the balance between our body and mind. The same is true for our pets.
For example, if your dog has strong fear and anxiety reactions to external threats (like loud noises or sudden movements), this may be a natural reaction.
But if your friend feels anxious while eating, or immediately hides at the sound of the wind, the reaction may be a little less natural. This is where CBD oil can help calm your pet.
CBD oil can help your pet relax, both in everyday life and in particularly stressful situations. Cannabidiol for dogs can also help with pain, talk to your veterinarian, some recognize the benefits of pure CBD for dogs and cats.
What Dosage of CBD?
I should let you know that we sell CBD as a dietary supplement, so CBD is not a substitute for medication.
Whether you're a total novice or a CBD connoisseur, finding your ideal dose and getting results with your CBD takes work and patience.
There are some theories about CBD dosage which is based on your body weight however there is no scientific evidence for this.
I'm just giving you some guidelines so you can get started.
your journey with CBD, you have to listen to your body and adjust accordingly.
How to Calculate to Determine the Right Dosage
The first thing you should look for when you have your CBD oil is to look at the Total Mg of CBD in the vial.
here are the steps to find the amount in your CBD oil
- You need to divide the total Mg of CBD in the bottle by the total drops and this will give you the amount of Mg per drop.
- Now you can calculate the amount of CBD per drop
For example: I know CBD oil 10% at around 1000mg for 10ml and
that there are approximately 240 drops in the bottle.
- so you divide 1000 mg by 240 drops, or 4.16 mg per drop.
Personally, I think 10mg/day is a reasonable amount to start with.
- This means that after 7 days of using your amount, you can double it. Then, after 7 days, you can double it again, if you find it necessary. This will allow you to find the ideal dosage for you.
Dosing CBD can be a challenge for new users. You can use our CBD dosage guide to determine the daily dose of CBD based on your weight (see chart below).
When using CBD for the first time, we recommend taking the lowest recommended dose and slowly increasing it over a week. It's a wise thing to do when taking a new supplement to see how it interacts with your endocannabinoid system.
The maximum is 200 mg to be taken in one day. That's what we recommend.
